Children's Code (AADC) Self-Assessment
Last reviewed: 28 June 2026
Class Prayer is an information-society service likely to be accessed by children and so falls within the scope of the ICO's Age-Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code). This self-assessment walks through each of the 15 standards.
| # | Standard | Class Prayer's stance |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Best interests of the child | Product decisions are weighed against the best interests of children first; safeguarding triage, AI guard-rails, and silence-protecting UX flow from this principle. |
| 2 | Data Protection Impact Assessment | DPIA published in this bundle; reviewed annually and on material change. |
| 3 | Age-appropriate application | Pupil UI is read-aloud-friendly, plain English, with the minimum free-text input needed for the planner. Staff features are gated behind staff accounts. |
| 4 | Transparency | A child-facing summary of how pupil data is used is shown at first sign-in and on the privacy notice. Staff get the full notice. |
| 5 | Detrimental use of data | Pupil data is never used for advertising, profiling, model training, or sale. Magnifica Humanitas binds the system away from self-optimisation/streak/engagement-maximising patterns. |
| 6 | Policies and community standards | Terms, fair-use policy, and safeguarding flow are enforced in product, not just in writing. |
| 7 | Default settings | High-privacy defaults: pastoral-context summary OFF, no analytics cookies, no third-party share, audit logs minimised. |
| 8 | Data minimisation | No surname, DOB, address, phone, photo, biometric or location data for pupils. Per-class login codes replace per-pupil credentials. |
| 9 | Data sharing | Sub-processor list is public and reviewed quarterly. No data is sold or shared with advertisers. |
| 10 | Geolocation | Class Prayer does not collect, store, or process geolocation data. |
| 11 | Parental controls | Schools, acting in loco parentis, control pupil accounts. A school leader can delete any pupil at any time; parents can request deletion via the school. |
| 12 | Profiling | No profiling. The AI guard-rails forbid persona inference or behavioural prediction. |
| 13 | Nudge techniques | No streaks, badges, time-on-task gamification, infinite scroll, or notification nags. The AI is a scaffold for prayer, not an engagement loop. |
| 14 | Connected toys / devices | Class Prayer is a web app; it does not interact with toys or IoT devices. |
| 15 | Online tools | Self-serve Download my data and Delete my account controls are present on the Profile page; rights-management for pupils is handled by the school under standard 11. |
