Safeguarding statement

1. Children first
Class Prayer is built for use in Catholic schools where pupil safeguarding is the school's statutory responsibility under Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and the equivalent guidance in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Nothing in this tool replaces the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or the school's local safeguarding procedures.
2. What Class Prayer does
- Flags free-text pupil reflections that contain wording suggestive of harm, distress, or concern, and routes them privately to the DSL pathway the school has configured.
- Keeps an audit trail of who saw a flagged item and when, so DSLs can show evidence to inspectors and trustees.
- Suppresses AI generation where pupil input trips a safeguarding tripwire, so the system never re-shares concerning content back to the pupil or class.
- Allows DSLs and school leaders to export or delete pupil records at any time without contacting support.
3. What Class Prayer does NOT do
- It is not a replacement for the DSL or the school's safeguarding policy. It does not contact parents, social care, or the police.
- It does not make safeguarding decisions. Every flag is reviewed by a trained human in the school.
- It is not a counselling service. Pupils who need to talk to someone should be directed to a trusted adult in school, or to Childline on 0800 1111.
- It does not monitor pupils outside the prayer planner; it has no access to wider school MIS data unless the school explicitly imports it.
4. Raising a concern about Class Prayer itself
If you believe Class Prayer has handled a safeguarding-related event incorrectly, or if a pupil-facing screen is showing content that is unsafe, please email info@classprayer.app with the subject line Safeguarding concern. We aim to acknowledge within one working day and to engage with the school's DSL as the lead investigator.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact emergency services on 999 first. Concerns about a child's welfare can also be reported to the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000.
