Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Class Prayer (the "Service"), operated by Class Prayer ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who can use Class Prayer

The Service is intended for Catholic schools in the United Kingdom, their staff, and their pupils. Pupils may only use the Service through a class set up by their school, and only with the permission of their teacher or school leader. School leaders and teachers are responsible for ensuring appropriate parental notice has been given in line with their school's policies.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for all activity carried out under your account. Do not share your password. Tell us at info@classprayer.app if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or hateful.
• Submit content that is obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, or that promotes harm to any person or group.
• Attempt to circumvent safeguarding controls, the AI safety classifier, or any technical limits on the Service.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the Service in bulk, or use it to train another machine-learning model.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or content generated through it without our written permission.
• Impersonate another person, school, or organisation, or misrepresent your relationship with one.

Data minimisation in free-text fields

Class Prayer's free-text fields (reflection boxes, prayer planners and pupil chat) are designed for short, transient prayer content. To keep the Service safe and minimise the personal data the school holds, staff agree to:

• Instruct pupils, before each session, not to enter full names (their own, classmates' or family members'), addresses, contact details, or identifiable personal scenarios into any free-text field. First names alone are sufficient.
• Avoid entering pupils' surnames, dates of birth, medical information or any special-category personal data when planning prayer themselves.
• Treat anything typed into a free-text field as transient prayer content, not as a pupil record. Class Prayer's database treats free-text fields as unindexed content, not as a searchable identity store; entering full names or sensitive details would defeat that design.

Where pupil input nonetheless triggers a safeguarding flag, the relevant excerpt is retained for the Designated Safeguarding Lead to review, in line with our Privacy Notice and our school-facing Data Processing Agreement.

4. Fair use policy

Class Prayer is provided for ordinary classroom and school use. To keep the Service affordable and reliable for everyone, we operate a fair use policy. We may, at our discretion and without prior notice:

• Apply rate limits or daily caps on prayer generations, AI chat refinements, exports, or other resource-intensive features.
• Throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are using the Service in an automated, abusive, excessive, or commercially disproportionate way.
• Remove or restrict access to content that breaches these Terms or our safeguarding obligations.
• Contact a school leader or Designated Safeguarding Lead where usage patterns raise a child-protection concern.

"Excessive use" includes (without limitation) generating content at volumes far above normal classroom use, scripted or programmatic access, sharing one account across an entire school in place of paid seats, or any pattern of use that materially increases our infrastructure or AI costs beyond reasonable expectations. Where possible we will get in touch first to discuss appropriate plans before taking action.

5. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and without refund where: (a) you breach these Terms; (b) we are required to do so by law; (c) continued provision would create a safeguarding, security, or legal risk; or (d) the Service or a feature is discontinued. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time by emailing info@classprayer.app.

6. AI-generated content

The Service uses AI to draft prayers and related content based on your inputs. AI-generated output may contain errors, omissions, or material that is not suitable for a particular class or pupil. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before using it with pupils, sharing it, or relying on it in any other way. We do not warrant that AI output is accurate, doctrinally complete, free of bias, or fit for any particular purpose.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and original content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You retain rights to content you submit, and you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, and display that content solely as needed to operate and improve the Service. Quoted Scripture and liturgical texts remain the property of their respective rights holders.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, error-free, or that defects will be corrected. We do not warrant the doctrinal, theological, pedagogical, or factual accuracy of any prayer, text, image, or other content produced through the Service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we, our officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any:

• indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages;
• loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, reputation, data, or anticipated savings;
• loss or damage arising from AI-generated content, third-party content, or content submitted by other users;
• loss or damage arising from interruptions, downtime, security incidents, or third-party service failures (including hosting, AI providers, and email providers);
• loss or damage arising from your reliance on the Service in place of professional, pastoral, safeguarding, or legal advice.

Our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service and these Terms, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, shall not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you have paid to us for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred pounds sterling (£100).

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability under the UK GDPR that cannot be lawfully limited.

10. Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Class Prayer and our officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) content you submit or share through the Service; (c) your breach of these Terms or any applicable law; or (d) your infringement of any third-party right, including intellectual property, privacy, or safeguarding obligations.

You make no claim of indemnity against us in respect of any matter for which liability is excluded or limited under section 9 above.

11. Safeguarding

The Service includes automated safeguarding checks on pupil input. These checks are a support tool, not a replacement for the school's own safeguarding policies, the Designated Safeguarding Lead, or statutory reporting duties. We do not guarantee that every concerning input will be detected, and we are not responsible for actions or omissions made by the school in response to (or in the absence of) a flag.

12. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may change, add, or remove features at any time, and we may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to school leaders by email or through the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service.
